Rio Tinto Agricultural College

Principal’s Welcome Note

Welcome to Rio Tinto Agricultural College, one of Zimbabwe’s leading institutions in agricultural education and training. For decades, our college has been at the forefront of producing well-trained, competent, and innovative agricultural professionals who continue to play a vital role in advancing the country’s food security and rural development.

As a government institution under the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, we are dedicated to contributing towards the successful implementation of the National Development Strategy (NDS1 and NDS2) and the realization of Vision 2030, which seeks to transform Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy.

In pursuit of this national vision, we have embraced the Agricultural Education for Development 5.0 model, which emphasizes five pillars: training, research, business advisory, entrepreneurship, and innovation. This approach ensures that our graduates are not only equipped with technical knowledge but also empowered to create solutions, establish enterprises, and drive transformation in the agricultural sector.

Rio Tinto Agricultural College , in addition to Crop Production,  Animal Production,  Agricultural Engineering,  and Agribusiness and Farm Management,  is uniquely specialized in fish production and value addition, providing students with hands-on training supported by modern facilities, demonstrations, and practical work. Our dedicated team of lecturers and staff are committed to nurturing an environment of academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement.

I warmly invite you to explore our programmes, outreach initiatives, and collaborative opportunities. Whether you are a prospective student seeking to build a rewarding career in agriculture, a researcher pursuing innovation, or a partner looking to engage with us, we welcome you to be part of our journey in shaping a sustainable and prosperous agricultural future for Zimbabwe.
